Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat casino, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel complex that highlights numerous amenities aside from the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
